DIG Düsseldorf is celebrating the Indian harvest festivals of Lohri/Pongal/ Makar Sankranti with the International School on the Rhine. It is a four-day festival which is normally celebrated in India from January 14th to January 16th.

Lohri is a popular winter time Punjabi folk festival. It marks the end of winter season, and is a traditional festival to welcome longer days and sun’s journey to the northern hemisphere. It is observed the night before Makar Sankranti and typically falls about the same date every year (January 13th). Pongal is a Tamil harvest festival.

The highlights of the celebrations include performances by ISR students and DIG members, delicious Indian food, arts and crafts street and a bonfire.
